Etna Rosso DOC 2021 - Tenuta delle Terre Nere

About the wine

The Tenuta delle Terre Nere vineyards are located on the northern slopes of the Etna volcano and cover an area of around 23 ha. The soul of the company is Marco de Grazia, a world-famous wine importer and wine connoisseur. The grape varieties for the white wines are Carricante, Catarratto, Inzolia and Grecanico, those for red wines are Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. The main crus of the estate are: Calderara, Guardiola and Feudo di Mezzo. In Cru Calderara, about 1.5 of the total of 11 hectares are planted with vines from the time before the phylloxera disaster. The vines, which are worked exclusively by hand, are up to 140 years old and grow at 600 to 1000 meters above sea level. The exceptional climatic conditions with temperature fluctuations between day and night of up to 30 °C and the volcanic soils result in beautifully mineral, unique wines.

Tasting note
Intense ruby red, hints of ripe fruit, sweet spices and minerality. The balance on the palate is a wonderful play of power, elegance and freshness. The tannin structure is present but fine-grained and juicy. Excellent from a young age!
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: The red wine tastes best at a slightly chilled 16°-18°C.
Vinification
The selected grapes are gently pressed after spontaneous fermentation and then matured for 16 months in large French barrels (10 to 30 hl), during which the biological acid degradation also takes place. The wine is stored in steel tanks for another month before it is bottled and sold.
