About the wine
The second wine of Peter Sisseck's legendary Dominio de Pingus is called Flor de Pingus and is treated in the cellar like its older brother: fermented and aged in large wooden barrels and steel tanks, deliberately only a small amount of new wood is used. The vines for the Flor de Pingus are located in La Horra and cover around 35 hectares. The pure Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) is now a cult in its own right and impresses with its velvety texture and its fresh character at the same time.
Robert Parker: 94/100
Tasting note
Ruby red impenetrable in the glass. On the nose, the wine captivates with an expansive bouquet of red and dark berries. There are also notes of cedar wood and chocolate. The aromas of the oak barrel are perfectly integrated. On the palate, the wine shows the perfect ripeness of the harvested material with a full body and soft tannins, which are kept in balance by the juiciness and acidity. The finish is long and harmonious.
Culinary recommendation
It goes perfectly with game, duck, braised dishes and aged cheese.
Vinification
Ageing in barriques for 21 months.
