Delicious “passito” dessert wine from Forteto della Luja in Piedmont. The wine is made from 100% dried Brachetto grapes. The grapes are grown at over 400 meters above sea level. A picturesque area called Pian dei Sogni — that directly translates as “dream valleys of the highlands.” The grapes for the wine are harvested late and then dried. They are then pressed and the wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 months. In the spring of the second year after the grape harvest, the wine is bottled. Forteto is similar to a cherry-red sweet wine, which smells of wilted scented roses, strawberry jam, cherry syrup and warming spices on the nose. Absolutely fantastic and suitable for further storage. The wine is perfect with desserts or simply to enjoy a quiet moment.
