Aber im Zuge der Europäisierung auch dieses entlegenen Winkels, beanspruchten die Ungarn exklusiv die Bezeichnung Tocai für Ihren Wein aus der gleichnamigen Sorte, die aber jener der Fiulaner nicht entspricht. Champagen (NE) lässt grüssen! Weil nun der von den Friulanern angebaute Tocai auf seinen Namen verzichten musste, entschieden sich die Friulaner, ihn kurzerhand Friulano zu nennen.
