Funtanì Barbera d'Alba Superiore DOC 2017 - Cordero di Montezemolo

About the wine

The Cordero di Montezemolo family vineyards are located in La Morra and Castiglione Falletto. The winery is based in the town of La Morra, which, together with the municipality of Barolo itself, is the most famous of the eleven municipalities in the Barolo growing region. At the top of the Monfalletto hill, a lebanon cedar rises mighty, imposing and venerable. The tree is part of the history and tradition of these lands. It was planted by the ancestors in memory of their wedding in 1856. Giovanni Cordero di Montezemolo only runs the winery in the second generation of the family, whose roots go back to April 3, 1340. His father Paolo had inherited it in the early 1940s as the closest legitimate heir to the Faletti family. Giovanni also has his enthusiasm for wine from him, so that he does not miss the personal care of his vineyards and vines. Giovanni prefers to deal with Barolo, who must be original and unadulterated!

Tasting note
This intense, multi-layered and varietal Barbera is one of the very great wines from Piedmont. This varietal Barbera d'Alba Superiore Funtani enchants with its indescribably full-fruity taste of licorice, chocolate and cherries. A full-bodied, earthy structure, a strong character and the excellently intensed, supple tannins crown this Barbera d'Alba Superiore Funtani.
Culinary recommendation
Recommended by Flaschenpöstlern: Funtanì Barbera d'Alba Superiore DOC goes perfectly with stews, Piedmontese dishes and strong, dark meat. Our recommendation: The ideal drinking temperature for the red wine is a slightly chilled 16°-18°C. The following period is the ideal enjoyment phase of this wine: now until 2029.
