About the wine
Gewürztraminer is said to have originated in Italy. The Traminer grape was first mentioned around the year 1000 in Tramin, Upper Etsch Valley, South Tyrol. Alsace is where most Spice-TraMiner is grown today. The 275 hectare Simonsig Estate is located northwest of Stellenbosch, South Africa's famous first-class wine-growing region. Simonsig's wine tradition dates back to 1953 with wine pioneer Frans Malan. Today, the three sons Johan, François and Pieter run the winery.
