Spicy, robust, down-to-earth and with lots of aging potential! The 2016 vintage has so far been the most challenging in the recent history of the Oggau winery. Spring frosts and hail in summer plagued winemakers, leaving less than 40% of the harvest. However, autumn was conciliatory and delivered top quality, but too little to bottle the “family members” individually. Stephi and Eduard Tscheppe-Eselböck therefore had to let go and dazzle the remaining wines. Few winegrowers act with this consequence. But when you produce “natural wine”, you have to work with what nature gives you. The answer is three fantastic wines. The three family members stick together here. The fruity-juicy Atanasius (Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt), the wild Joschuari (Blaufränkisch) and the sublime Bertholdi (Blaufränkisch) together.
