About the wine
In 2000, Herdade do Rocim acquired the Movicortes winery, which is owned by the Vieira family, which has a very good reputation in Portugal as a sales company in the automotive and agricultural sectors. However, the purchase of the family partriache was seen more as a gift to his daughter Catarina, who completed her studies as an oenologist and agricultural economist at the University of Bologna in Italy and whose dream of creating something “of her own” came true. With António Ventura, who was trained at the German “Kaderschmiede” Geisenheim, among others, she managed to make this winery with its avant-garde architecture one of the top addresses in Portugal within 10 years - through all this work, they also became closer and are now married to each other. Herdade do Rocim is located in southern Portugal between Vidigueira and Cuba. In the Baixo Alentejo growing region, 120 hectares of land are cultivated, 70 of which are “dedicated” to wine and 10 hectares to olive trees. In particular, the vineyards with old vines — approx. 20 ha — are used for quality viticulture. The high international awards in “Wine Entusiast, Wine and Sprits” speak for themselves.
