About the wine
At one of the highest points in Rioja Alavesa, in the picturesque village of Elvillar de Álava, the Meruelo family founded the Heredad de Baroja bodegas in 1982. The vineyards are located at an altitude of between 560 and 700 meters. Protected in the north by the Sierra Cantabria and in the south, the river Ebro provides the necessary cooling. Together with ideal humidity and perfect solar radiation, nature helps, among other things, to create this large reserve.
Tasting note
That will be remembered: Its rich ruby red lends an extravagant touch to any occasion. The Heredad de Baroja Reserva's playful aromas of black cherry, chocolate and cooked blackberry express a lot of complexity with a very individual structure. Next, the playful nuances of prune, clove and marmalade reveal their own character. A strong body and fresh acidity result in the fruity red wine, which, balanced with fine tannins in the mouth, shows a lot of character and class.
Culinary recommendation
Recommended by Flaschenpöstlern: Heredad de Baroja Reserva goes well with pizza, lasagna and red meat.
