About the wine
The Hess Collection Winery was founded in 1978 by Swiss Donald Hess and is now one of the leading wineries in California. In 2012, the new generation took over the fortunes of the winery under the direction of Donald's daughter Ursula and her husband Timothy Persson. Dave Guffy also belongs to this team. Dave has been Chief Winemaker of the Hess Collection Winery since 1999. The wines from Mount Veeder achieve the highest awards from Parker and Wine Spectator with astonishing regularity.

Tasting note
That will be remembered: Its unparalleled ruby red gives every occasion a special touch. The fruity bouquet of the Hess Lion Tamer Red Blend of black plum, apricot and anise shows aromatic complexity and plenty of pleasure potential. The distinctive nuances of raspberry, black cherry and blueberry create their individual texture. Medium-bodied and distinctive acidity result in the red wine, which harmoniously shows a lot of character and class in the mouth with fine tannins.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with red meat (roast beef, beef tenderloin), game, grilled meats and spicy cheese.
