About the wine
The vineyard of Tenuta Castello di Morcote is described as one of the most beautiful in Tessin and the wines produced there today are among the best that Tessin has to offer. Gaby Gianini, co-owner, has been managing the winery with a lot of power and passion since 2009. Tenuta Castello di Morcote has been successfully included in the Gault & Millau Guide since 2015 and has also appeared in Vinum since 2015 as one of the best wineries in Switzerland.
Tasting note
Intense ruby red. This Merlot impresses with wonderful varietal characteristics, its dynamic character and a nose of red fruits and ripe strawberries. Strong but not heavy with fine acidity and freshness.
Vinification
The mash fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for 8 to 10 days at a controlled temperature. Half of the 8-month aging takes place in barriques and stainless steel tanks. After blending, there is a further refinement phase of six months in the bottle.
