About the wine

A pure Susumaniello is a rarity. The old Apulian variety is only grown on about 50 hectares. Not because it doesn't taste good — on the contrary! It scores with intense berry aromas and a pleasant freshness. The reason is rather that the yield of vines drops drastically after 10 years, which may have earned it the name “donkey”... in any case, it is not very popular with most winegrowers. Fortunately, Mark Shannon has eaten a fool of the stubborn grape variety and delights us with this wonderfully chocolaty-berry wine.
