About the wine
The Vriesenhof Callista (Greek callisto = the best) is only vinified in exceptionally good years. It is a blend of the best Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. After being harvested by hand, the young wine matures for around 24 months in small French Nevers oak barriques. These give it a silky and round touch that makes it taste harmonious and soft on the palate in particular. Even diehard Bordeaux fans will be surprised by this wine.

Tasting note
The poster child among VRIESENHOF wines, the Kallista, is the classic one bad. A very intense, complex aroma makes us think of ripe fruit (cassis, elderberry, plum jam, raspberry), fine herbs (mint, black tea), spices (vanilla, cinnamon) and subtle aging aromas (cedarwood, tobacco). The wine is extremely complex on the palate. The extremely balanced fruit acidity combines harmoniously with the juicy, ripe tannins. The wine has melting, power and harmony — what more could you ask for?
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with venison, cheese, lamb and beef fillet.

Aged for 18 months in barriques (French oak).
