Killerman's Run Shiraz 2020 - Kilikanoon

About the wine

Mr. Killerman lived in a humble tin shed in the hills behind Kilikanoon. He foraged through the Clare Valley for his meals, finding wild rabbit and many other gourmet treats. Kevin Mitchell's Father Mort respected this man from the bush, as they both knew the secrets of the rich landscape. Killerman's Run reflects the rich landscape and being at one with the environment by sourcing and blending wines from right across the Clare Valley into a seamless, natural and uncompromising wine. The Killerman's Run Range of Wines are masterfully composed blends selected from across the finest vineyards and sub regions in the Clare Valley. A second consecutive dry year, coupled with higher than average temperatures made for a challenging 2019/20 growing season, resulting in yields being down by as much as 30%. The New Year brought milder temperatures which gave the Vines much needed relief, providing ideal ripening conditions for flavor development and acid retention. Each individual parcel was vinified separately, and remained so until the final wine was assembled. Maturation in a selection of seasoned French oak hogsheads for fifteen months provides a softness and elegance to the silky palate.

Tasting note
Colour Deep purple, nose Fragrant red berries and light oak notes with sweet spice and dried herbs. Palate Dark cherries and sweet spices from Grenache as well as full-bodied plum and chocolate notes from Shiraz are in the foreground. Seamlessly interwoven with cured meat and dried herbs from Mataro, which are further enhanced by firm tannins and subtle, woody nuances of French oak.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with beef, savory arancini and hand-cut French fries.
