About the wine

The picture-book finca Casa Castillo has 60 to 100-year-old vines that are rooted around 800 meters above sea level in barren, stony soils. The top wines include the 3 single-vineyard wines from the Valtosca, Las Gravas vineyards, the monumental Pie Franco and, more recently, the Cru Ceron. Just 10 years ago, there was little more in the hinterland of Valencia and Alicante than the industrial-type large wineries that produced nameless blended wines. In recent years, classic domains have emerged which, with their top selections, have given the Levant a clear profile. The Casa Castillo winery by José-Maria Sanchez is one of these pioneering businesses. The winery is located about 100 km from the east coast in the interior of Spain on the “Altiplano de Jumilla” on the Jumilla Plateau.
