Le Puy Emilien VdF 2019 - Château le Puy

About the wine

For 400 years (!) the château is family-owned, yet it is one of the most overlooked châteaus in Bordeaux. Although the wines do not stand out in Primeur tastings due to the moderate alcohol levels, they regularly shine in blind tastings and are full of life even after decades. What kind of characters who combine tradition and future here. So do Pascal and Jean-Pierre Amoreau, full of humility in front of nature, there is only minimal intervention in the vineyard, biodynamic viticulture since the 1990s (certified). In the cellar, the two character heads invariably dispense with new wood, sulfur addition and filtration. Le Puy are unique wines that tell the centuries-long history of the families. The fact that they have already been denied the AOC label due to a lack of typicity can only be understood as an award after having tasted them only once! Great, fascinating wines!

Tasting note
Romeo - youthful nobility, committed to the nobility and yet ahead of its time, softer, more sensitive. Subtle, noble bright red and dark berry fruit, young, with fine features, showing the sex of the family, possessions, lands, leather, mushrooms, forest floor. Young elegant figure on the palate, this narrow, beautiful body, which is more spirit than strength and flesh, this noble attitude, the dark fruit, and this still young, fine intellect, the ethereal freshness, this gentle rebellion, the fine, never dominant tannins, the small step ahead of its time, above standing and privileges, the brown tones, going beyond, liberated, a passionate aesthete. What a delicate, subtle BDX. The pure elegance, nobility, youthful lightness.
