About the wine
The Tenuta Dell'Ornellaia winery was able to build up an excellent reputation within a short period of time, with many famous names from Antinori to Mondavi taking part here. Le Volte, the first release of Ornellaia, is now a cult wine.
Tasting note
Dense, rich ruby Expressive, fruity and fresh on the nose. Lots of black fruit, plums, warm spice, some cassis. Refined and elegant on the palate, with the necessary power to prove that it is not a dazzler despite its intense fruity nose. Extremely balanced, accessible and harmonious.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with pasta with coniglio, or scaloppine al limone.
Vinification
The vinification was carried out separately in small steel tanks to take into account the respective character of the different grape varieties during the fermentation phases. Alcoholic fermentation was followed by malolactic fermentation, again in steel. The 10-month aging took place partly in 2-4 year old third-occupancy barriques, which had previously been covered with the Ornellaia, and partly in cement tanks to achieve a perfect balance between tannin structure and expression of the fruit.
