About the wine
The Spanish wine region Montsant, whose wine history dates back to the Romans, is located in the province of Tarragona between Zaragoza and Barcelona and encloses the Priorat wine region. Montsant has around 50 wineries, which cultivate a total of 2000 ha of vineyards. Founded in 1917, Celler El Masroig is considered one of the most important wineries in Montsant. The estate cultivates over 500 ha of vineyards, all under the label Denominació DorGien Montsant. Around 2.5 million kg of grapes are harvested, distributed among the varieties Mazuela (Carinyena), Tempranillo, Garnacha and Syrah, which grow for the most part on red clay soil, an important component that has a lasting impact on the quality of the wines. Drinking a wine from El Masroig means feeling the character and culture of this magnificent landscape.
