About the wine
With experience and intuition, the winemaker from the Italian winery Alois Lageder masters this red wine in the fertile and picturesque landscape in South Tyrol. If you are looking for something special, then you shouldn't miss this distinctive red wine 2014 — Merlot MMXIV Alto Adige DOC. Culinary tip from Flaschenpost team: This Merlot is excellent to serve with duck or poultry.
Tasting note
Deep cherry red color with ruby reflections. Very complex notes with lots of concentrated fruit, some licorice and fine spiciness combined with elegant wood notes. Full-bodied and ripe on the palate, with rich and delicate fruit sweetness. Excellent harmony and a lot of enamel characterize this rarity.
Culinary recommendation
Merlot is generally more suitable for white meat such as chicken or veal. However, it also accompanies fine pasta dishes such as tagliatelle with chanterelles.
Vinification
Only a very small selection of the very best Merlot grapes from vines over 50 years old is used for this top wine. After 17 days of maceration in stainless steel tanks, the young wine is aged and refined for 18 months in French barriques (Allier and Nevers, 2/3 new).
