Merlot del Ticino DOC Platinum 2019 - Gialdi Vini - Linie Brivio

About the wine

You can describe the landscape of Ticino with words such as mountainous or hilly. However, the Swiss winery Guido Brivio is trying to express the beauty of its homeland with this red wine. We think he succeeded! If you want to surprise a wine connoisseur, then with this distinctive red wine 2012 — Merlot del Ticino PLATINUM Barrique! Flaschenpost team promises a culinary experience if you serve this merlot with duck or slightly spicy red meat.

Tasting note
The complexity of the aromas is extremely impressive: hyacinth and lilac, blackberry and cassis, nutmeg and coconut, to name just a few. After a soft start, it spreads out on the palate with opulence. The alcohol, delicate tannins and juicy acidity are optimally integrated into the powerful body. Compact, elegant, with lots of lavish fruit and a very long finish, it will provide unforgettable drinking experiences for many years to come.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpost team tip: Merlot del Ticino PLATINUM barrique goes well with poultry, slightly spicy red meat and duck.
Vinification
A few words about vinification: Made only from the best Merlot grapes and vinified exclusively in the best years, the berries are harvested extremely late in order to be able to concentrate a high sugar content and thus ensure an equally high alcohol content. The must first undergoes a long maceration at a temperature significantly above the norm. After the must has been tapped, there is a slight sedimentation and immediately afterwards the move to new French oak barriques, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. The expansion to maturity takes a total of 20 months.
