Merlot Due Amici 2020 - Gialdi Vini - Linie Brivio

About the wine

Do you already know the provocative red wine Merlot Due Amici from the 2013 vintage? If not, it's time! To get a feel for the mountainous and hilly landscape aesthetics of Ticino, there is no way around this red wine, which the Swiss winery Guido Brivio masters with a keen sense of texture. Flaschenpöstler tip: Combine this Merlot with slightly spicy red meat or duck.

Tasting note
The florality and spiciness in the bouquet are reminiscent of English spice and flower potpourris, although the fruit intensity is just as pronounced. On the palate, it shows its accessible nature with pleasant juiciness, ripe tannins and aromas of amarena cherries, elderberries, dried pears and oranges, which linger pleasantly long on the aftertaste. This wine is dedicated to over 20 years of successful collaboration between two friends: Baur au Lac Vins and Guido Brivio.
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: The ideal drinking temperature for red wine is a slightly chilled 16°-18°C. The recommended drinking phase of this wine is in the following period: 2-6 years after harvest. Recommended by Flaschenpöstlern: Merlot Due Amici goes well with slightly spicy red meat, poultry and duck.
Vinification
The vinification took place as follows: The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at 28 to 30 °C in a temperature-controlled manner. The maceration takes around 10 to 14 days and the malolactic fermentation also takes place in stainless steel tanks. For aging, the young wine is filled into one-year and two-year barriques. He remains there for 12 months. The wine is neither embellished nor cold-stabilized.
