About the wine
Guglielmo Gialdi founded Gialdi Vini SA in 1953 in Mendrisio, which is now managed by son Feliciano and thanks to his commitment is one of the top companies in Ticino viticulture. Thanks to continuous investments in the wineries in Mendrisio and Bodio, the company now vinifies a total of almost 1 million kilograms of grapes annually from over 300 winegrowers in the lower Leventina, the Riviera and the Blenio Valley. The wide range of Gialdi products consists primarily of wines from Sopraceneri. Some of the wine cellars are built into the mountains to make use of the circulating air currents in the Monte Generoso massif. In this ideal climate, the best Gialdi drops mature in barrique barrels.
Tasting note
Intense and rich ruby red. Bouquet complex, harmonious, and of good intensity with fruity notes of red and black berries, as well as aromas of menthol and licorice. Full-bodied, soft and well-structured. Fruity and mineral, elegant, harmonious and balanced. With ripe, juicy tannins and a long aftertaste.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with hearty meat dishes and aged cheeses.
Vinification
Traditional pressing in stainless steel tanks with a maceration time of 9 - 14 days at 28 to 30 °C. The wine ages for over 10 months in oak barrels of 25 to 42 hl and in barriques of one to two years.
