About the wine

Not a story, a fairy tale. In this bewitchingly beautiful and hot valley, winegrowers used to grow grapes for the big port wine producers with hard work but little passion until Dirk van Niepoort arrived. With his bold idea of founding a kind of cooperative with numerous winegrowers and working with an excellent team to process the grapes into independent wines that reflect their origins, he has awakened the Douro Valley from deep sleep. Since 1999, the Lavradores de Feitoria community has been producing very remarkable and surprisingly cheap wines year after year.
