About the wine
Château Smith Haut Lafitte is one of the oldest wineries in France, whose origins date back to the 14th century. In 1720, Scotsman George Smith, the winery's namesake, purchased the estate. This was followed by several owners before the Cathiard family bought the property and are still the owners today. Their red and white wines enjoy national and international renown.

Tasting note
On the palate, the wine is straight and balanced, with good concentration and plenty of volume. Despite a significant amount of tannin, it remains soft and rich, with an excellent balance of substance, density and freshness. The texture is fine and precise. The aftertaste is very long and complex with fresh red fruits, licorice and cinnamon, but also with terroir-related notes of smoke and flint.
Vinification
18 months in barrels (60% are new barrels from the our own coopery), aged on lees. After transfer, the wine is aged according to its profile.
