Petite Arvine Altimus Wallis AOC 2021 - Lux Vina - Domaines Chevaliers

About the wine

Lux Vina stands for the best wines from the Domaines Chevaliers winery. Patrick Z'Brun and his winemaker Christian Gfeller have selected the most outstanding vineyards for this purpose. In some cases, old, hard-to-reach terraces were revitalized and dry stone walls were restored. The oldest vines for Lux Vina are well over 50 years old and produce small yields but extremely complex grapes. Lux Vina is intended to provide an adequate stage for the incredible quality potential of these vineyards, which lie on calcareous and stony soils between Salgesch and Chamoson. Seven wines impressively demonstrate how the fascinating light of the Alps allows wines of very specific origins to grow. The Vins des Chevaliers brand, which has been established for many decades, will of course be retained and continues to stand for reliable quality. Rooted, high-quality, future-oriented — that is Lux Vina from Domaines Chevaliers.

Robert Parker: 93/100
Tasting note
Brilliant yellow-green. Nice bouquet with aromas of cherry, brioche and lemon zest. On the palate, the Petite Arvine “Altimus” has a fresh, dynamic acidity that gives the powerful wine a beguiling verticality. Exotic fruit notes, minerality and fine tannins provide a stable framework. The wine is very firm, very fresh, very alert. A blazingly beautiful wine with addictive potential for aesthetes. A white wine like a pillar in a Gothic cathedral: dynamically striving upwards, very focused, without unnecessary mannerisms and yet very stable.
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: The perfect drinking temperature for the white wine is a slightly chilled 8°-10°C. The wine should be enjoyed during this period: Flaschenpöstler recommend this Petite Arvine Altimus Wallis AOC for risotto, fondue and riz Casimir.
Vinification
80% in oak barrels for 9 months, 20% in stainless steel tanks. No fining, gentle, fine filtration.
