About the wine

With experience and intuition, the winemaker from the South African winery Porcupine Ridge masters this red wine in the enchanting and fertile landscape of the coastal region. The dominant Shiraz 2017 — Porcupine Ridge Syrah is the missing piece of the puzzle in your wine rack. Culinary tip from Flaschenpost team: This Shiraz can be served very well with game or barbecue.

Tasting note
The Porcupine Ridge Syrah presents itself in dark purple almost black like ink in a glass and pampers the nose with classically intense aromas of dark fruits, perfume of fragrant violets and a hint of pepper. On the palate, delicious nuances of ripe blackberry, spicy clove, nutmeg and star anise unfold. Ripe tannins and good structure ensure a long finish with a full body and strong intensity. A spicy, mature and well-structured Syrah with elegant influences.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with grilled red meat.
Vinification
From the well-known South African winery Boekenhoutskloof, the Porcupine Ridge Syrah is a pure red wine that shines with considerable complexity and an extract-rich structure. The high-quality grapes come from a single vineyard at high altitudes in Franschhoek and thrive on weathered granite soil with sandy soil. Like the rest of the products from the South African cult winery, the Porcupine Ridge Syrah is also characterized by an outstanding balance of fruit typical of the grape variety and the specific characteristics of the terroir. The red wine matures for nine months in French barriques and therefore reveals a particularly rich, densified structure.
