About the wine
Schola Sarmenti, home to beautiful walls from the nineteenth century, stands on vineyards with autochthonous grape varieties with up to 80-year-old vines, which are cultivated skillfully and patiently. Only the best grapes are selected for the harvest, which were allowed to grow in an environment of respect and love for nature.
Tasting note
This Primitivo impresses with its intense ruby red with slight garnet reflections. On the nose, strong aromas of sour cherries, dried plums, raisins, dark berries and pleasant spicy notes. On the palate, the typical dense, yet velvety nature of Primitivo appeals, lots of fruit, a strong spiciness, light hints of marmalade, soft tannins and a freshness that is pleasant for the region. A great southern Italian with lots of charm.
Culinary recommendation
The classic with pizza, pasta and grilled food.
Vinification
Primitivo IGT primarily uses grapes from younger vines, which are on average 15 years old. In contrast to the large crus, the grapes here grow primarily on vines that are raised in the more modern Guyot growing system. The grapes are picked by hand and fermented and aged in stainless steel.
