About the wine
With the special Quinta do Javali Old Vines DOC from 2013, you will positively surprise your guests. The winemaker from the Portuguese winery Quinta do Javali has absolutely mastered his craft. Elegance and finesse are the characteristics of this red wine, which originates in the beautiful and sunny landscape of the Douro Valley.
Tasting note
Deep garnet red. At the beginning, the bouquet oscillates between open fruit and youthful closure. The fruit finally retains the upper hand and pleases with beautiful cassis and blueberry aromas. The barrel ageing is expressed by a resinous spicy note, which also harmonizes with fine spicy and earthy notes. A dense, dry and elegant bouquet. The body appears powerful yet restrained, whose fine-grained tannin and strong acidity guarantee a long service life. This strong framework supports the beautiful, not yet fully ripened fruit, all the more so after the tannin has withdrawn. Still present in the background, he gives the fruit more room for manoeuvre, and the wine appears supple. This is followed by an intense, slightly peppery finish, which leaves a delicate berry note in the aftertaste.
