About the wine
A great wine from large vineyards — Roman Niewodniczanski's estate on steepest slates covers around 75 hectares. These wines owe their dense, deep and silky texture to vines that are up to 120 years old. A harmonious Riesling that is really fun.
Tasting note
Medium lemon yellow, aromatic nose of exotic fruits, citrus and slate minerality. Nice tension and depth on the palate followed by a juicy finish. A very popular Riesling!
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Riesling Alte Reben passt ideal zu Crevetten, indischer Küche und Pilzen.
Vinification
After manual harvesting, the selected grapes are gently pressed and then fermented spontaneously in large wooden barrels of 2,000, 4,000 and 6,000 liters. It is aged in stainless steel tanks for six to seven months. The long storage on fine yeast gives the wine additional complexity and creaminess. The wine is bottled without fining agents. All wines from Van Volxem are vegan. No fining agents or wine treatment agents are used that contain animal components or are of animal origin.
