The Schloss Lieser winery located on the Moselle was bought in the 1990s by Thomas Haag together with his wife Ute in need of renovation. After years of hard development work in cellars, vineyards and buildings, as well as the high demands placed on themselves to produce the highest possible Riesling quality, they were once again awarded the highest ratings in all renowned wine guides as one of the very few wineries in Germany. With their unique portfolio of 8 LARGE SITES, the elaboration of the respective terroir through natural gentle processing and spontaneous fermentation is particularly important. The fine, loose slate weathering soils give the Riesling wines their distinct mineral expression.An absolute top location is the Juffer Sonnenuhr in nearby Brauneberg, a kind of sun-compacting concave mirror with a sundial in the middle. The cabinet is an elegant, classically delicately fruity Riesling, which presents itself with a playful lightness and a typically skewed minerality. Fine residual sweetness and a perfect combination of various fruit notes and a great acid structure and freshness.
