About the wine
One of the most renowned wineries in Rioja is Bodegas Muga in Haro. All red wines from Muga are aged in self-made barriques. The classic Reserva, Gran Reserva and modern location selections such as the Torre Muga and the Aro inspire consumers and journalists. If you like traditionally made Rioja's, Muga is the right choice for you. A great classic.
Tasting note
A great Muga classic, solid, compact, straightforward! Dense, still youthful dark red! Elegant bouquet, complex, lots of black fruit, cassis, tar, leather, floral scent (chamomile..), cedarwood, as well as a touch of antique-looking, slightly dusty museum scent... very nice! Firm and compact on the palate, grainy structure, juicy acidity brings balance and hydration, all backed by fine cassis candy fruit.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with red meats, polenta and lasagna.
Vinification
Fermentation in large oak barrels with the grape's own yeasts, mash contact for approx. 4 weeks. Then aging and aging in one and two-year French and American oak barriques for 28 months and on the bottle for 12 months.
