About the wine

Fattoria Lornano has been owned by the Pozzoli family since 1904. The estate is located in the Chianti area, on the hills of Castellina in the municipality of Monteriggioni. The Fattoria has a total area of 180 ha, of which 49 ha are planted with vines. 80% are Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and only a small part of the white varieties Trebbiano and Malvasia. In 2010, Nicolò and Galileo Pozzoli, the fourth generation of the family, restructured the vineyards together with oenologists Franco and Matteo Bernabei, and a new Barrique cellars and a new warehouse were built. Fattoria Lornano does not use chemical fertilizers or herbicides. The grapes are processed in a modern wine cellar, the maturation takes place in the cellar completely below the ground, protected from abrupt temperature fluctuations. In 2013, Lornano was one of the first wine producers of the newly founded consortium “Gran Selezione”.
