About the wine
Springfield Estate is located on the banks of the Breede River in the heart of the Robertson valley surrounded by mountains. The Bruwer family, who fled France as Huguenots in 1688 for reasons of faith, is already running the winery in the fourth generation. Abrie Bruwer and his sister Jeanette form a dynamic and enthusiastic team!
Now until 2027Tim Atkin: 93/100.
Tasting note
Springfield Life from Stone Sauvignon Blanc consists of fruits from a single vineyard, its scent and taste are just as concentrated. A brilliant green light up in the glass. The expressive Sauvignon Blanc has a rich fruit core that is reminiscent of passion fruit and releases notes of red pepper. The minerality already inherent in the wine will increase even more over the next few years. A wonderfully sparkling drop with great finesse.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with Asian spicy dishes or grilled dishes.
Vinification
It sounds paradoxical, but the name “Life from Stone” is drinkable proof that stones can indeed produce flourishing life: The vines, which are over 25 years old, grow on the stoniest soils of the Springfield Estate in Robertson Valley, which consist largely of various quartz and loose soils. The wine was fermented cold and stored on the fine yeast for 100 days and then bottled.
