About the wine
The Palliser Estate winery is located in the town of Martinborough on the southeastern edge of the North Island of New Zealand. It is located 60 kilometers east of the capital Wellington as the crow flies. Palliser Estate brought in its first harvest in 1989 and has been conducted by winemaker Allan Johnson since 1991. As a staunch supporter of more minimalistic vinification methods, he has since won over 80 gold medals for the winery. On the 72 hectares that the winery now covers, Pinot Noir, the flagship variety of Martinborough, is mainly grown. This is followed by Sauvignon Blanc and smaller portions of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. Palliser Estate is committed to sustainable and environmentally friendly production and is currently in the process of converting to 'Organic Farming. '
