Admittedly, “Serious Wine from a Gorgeous Place” is a somewhat unusual name for an Austrian wine. Especially when you consider Roland Velich's terroir philosophy. According to the origin, the original name was also “St. Georgen Grüner Veltliner”. But because it tastes so different, is so different in character than any other Austrian Grüner Veltliner, he was quickly denied the quality wine certification years ago by the tasting panel of the responsible federal office. And so it is simply “Austrian white wine.” Deep stacking, forced! The barren limestone soils on which the vines thrive and then also the vinification with a long aging period on the yeast in 500 liter barrels are decisive for this difference. A wine with great aromatic complexity, delicate fruit notes, salty, with wonderfully ripe but present acidity. Very Burgundian!
