About the wine
Castello di Fonterutoli, located in the middle of Chianti Classico, has been owned by the Mazzei family for almost 600 years and has grown over the centuries into a fantastic 650ha farm, including 100 hectares of vineyards. The Mazzei family attaches great importance to their very important cultural heritage, but they also know from history that you have to keep up with the times. They are wines with a clear signature and origin that both connoisseurs and laymen like to shake hands with.
James Suckling: 98/100
Tasting note
Dark ruby purple. Intense aromas of blackberries, elderberries and ripe dark cherries, combined with subtle herbal notes. The siepi is very smooth on the palate, with lots of fresh fruit. Unfolds with lots of elegant, well-integrated tannins and its own great personality.
