About the wine
Claudio Quarta, the founder of Tenute Eméra, was a very successful microbiologist in New York before he returned to his roots in 2005 and began a new phase of his life as a winemaker in Salento.
Tasting note
When tradition and innovation come together, the result is a wine like Primitivo di Manduria SINCE 1974: unique in taste and full of authenticity. Aged in French oak barrels for over a year, the Primitivo di Manduria SINCE 1974 develops its soft, warm and complex character. The vineyards near Carosino (province of Taranto, Puglia) almost 200 meters above sea level, with a high average temperature and little rainfall all year round. The soils are mainly clay. The grapes are selected and picked by hand in the third decade of August. Winemaking is traditional for red wines: the must stays in contact with the grape skin. It is then filled into barrels where it completes its fermentation at a controlled temperature.
