Steinzeiler 2018 - Anton Kollwentz

About the wine

Pioneer Anton Kollwentz is considered one of the great personalities of the new Austrian wine and a leading co-founder of the “wine miracle”. Now son Andreas is shining in his footsteps. And how! The modern winery in Großhöflein has sensational vineyards. The vineyards are as “tailor-made” as if they had been trimmed for the Vienna Opera Ball. And Andreas knows why: he is interested in nothing more than perfect, fully ripe harvests for his world-class wines. The parade horse and “Austria's Latour” is the Steinzeiler: a Blaufränkisch with some Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon. Precise, magnificent classic with incredible storage potential.

Tasting note
Anton Kollwentz is considered a pioneer and one of the great personalities among Austrian winemakers. His son Andreas has been running the winery extremely successfully for many years. A powerful red wine with elegance and charm made from lovingly tended old vines. Precise, magnificent classic with incredible storage potential. It takes its name from the stony, calcareous soils on the southern slopes of the Leitha Mountains. Vines have been growing in these vineyards for 2800 years.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with beef, grill and lamb.
