Susucaru Rosato 2021 - Frank Cornelissen

About the wine

Frank Cornelissen has only dedicated itself to wine here since the beginning of 2000, and has ventured far from the start, not compromises, but clear convictions and ideas. When Frank says nature, he also means nature. The ancient vines are virtually left to their own devices, accompanied, and only in rare, very difficult years are biodynamic methods used at all, what goes into the bottle is not only the pure and untamed nature, it is a great experience, a venture and a journey, incomparably passionate, impetuous and but of inner purity. It's really big and if it's surprising that you can have bottles recorked after barely more than 10 years, not because the corks are no good, but because the wines will still delight you for decades to come!

Tasting note
Siren - the myth: Like a call from afar, calm, clear very dark red fruitAnd yet ghostly, the ethereal expanse, slightly sour note that resonates so far but also comes so close: intense, fresh fruit, ethereal. So haunting on the palate, it first ensnares softly, and then goes through the marrow and leg. With its ethereal, fresh sound - more than with structure and body - it literally takes possession of you, excites, stirs up with its distinctively ethereal and mineral smoky notes, until you finally fall for it - softening again - the delicious, ripe, sweet fruit. Anything but a trivial rosé, an intense fruity-ethereal evocation, scary and beautiful!
Vinification
Selective harvesting and sorting by hand. 10 days maceration of the de-stemmed, crushed berries, fermentation with the vineyard's own yeasts in stainless steel tanks, malolactic fermentation, no fining, easy filtration, minimal sulphurization.
