About the wine

Domaine Chante Cigale has been family-owned since the 19th century. Since then, the estate has been passed on from generation to generation, back then under the name Clos Chante Cigale. In 1936, the same year that the Appélation d Origine Contrôllée Châteauneuf-du-Pape was founded, Paul Jourdan, who owned the estate from 1920 to 1950, decided to rename the winery Domaine Chante Cigale. Chante means singing and cigale is a subspecies of grasshopper.
