About the wine
You can describe the landscape of Ticino with words such as mountainous or hilly. However, the Swiss winery Guido Brivio is trying to express the beauty of its homeland with this white wine. We think he succeeded! Culinary tip from Flaschenpost team: This Merlot can be served with slightly spicy red meat or duck.
Tasting note
The nose has floral notes reminiscent of wax flowers, accompanied by the scent of ripe peaches and apricots as well as fine almond biscuits. The taste of the fruit is accompanied by herbal and tree nut aromas, a fresh, lively acidity and a slightly mineral tart, which extends to the finish and has a delicate, thoroughly pleasant bitterness.
Culinary recommendation
Excellent accompaniment to antipasti, light appetizers and seafood; also excellent as an aperitif.
Vinification
When the red Merlot grapes are harvested, the clear must is obtained by the juice running off automatically; this is followed by very gentle pressing. The clear must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at 18-20 °C. In order to give maximum expression to the typical character of the variety, we refrain from organic acid degradation.
