About the wine
Torre Titolo is a country house just outside the village of Barile in northern Basilicata, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, which has been guarding the history of the Fucci family for four generations. On the slopes of the extinct Vulture volcano and at an altitude of 650 m, Salvatore Fucci and his daughter Elena passionately cultivate one of the most important local grape varieties, the Aglianico del Vulture. When the decision was made to sell the family winery in 2000, the young Elena Fucci decided to definitely change her plans for the future and thus save the business. She completed a doctorate in oenology and from then on worked on the family estate in the rugged mountains of Basilicata. The winery pressed its own wine for the first time in 2000 with the help of an external consultant and since 2004 completely independently. It quickly became clear that a single, single-varietal wine would be made, modern but not modernist and grown in a natural way without any use of chemical agents. The Titolo, whose Aglianico vines are 55-60 years old on average, some even up to 70 years old, has now become a great wine. With great respect for the environment, the Fuccis bring out the unmistakable and unique character of this wine and terroir in the best possible way. The current vintage was once again awarded 3 Bicchieri in the renowned Gambero Rosso.
