About the wine

Not a story, a fairy tale. In this beguilingly beautiful and hot valley, winegrowers used to grow grapes only for the major port wine producers with hard work but little passion until Dirk van Niepoort arrived. With his bold idea to found a kind of cooperative with numerous winegrowers and to process the grapes into independent wines that reflect their origin with an excellent team, he has awakened the Douro Valley from deep sleep. Since 1999, the Lavradores de Feitoria community has been producing very remarkable and surprisingly cheap wines year after year.
