Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Sonnenfels 2019 - F.J. Eifel

About the wine

The fingerprint on the label is Franz-Josef-Eifel's trademark. His Rieslings are just as unmistakable. Most wines come from the very steep slate slopes in the best Trittenheim vineyards and impress with clear fruit and stimulating acidity. The Eifel winery is a traditional family winery in the 4th generation and cultivates a total of 4.8 hectares of vineyards, 95% of which are planted with Riesling. Franz Josef Eifel relies on very low yields, manual harvesting with up to three harvesting passes per vineyard and very gentle further processing of the grapes with whole grape pressing, cool and long fermentation (up to 3 months) with his own yeast and aging in stainless steel tanks or in typical Moselle oak barrels. The results are impressive and see for yourself!

Tasting note
A top-class Riesling. On the nose, the aromas of dried apples, ripe stone fruits, citrus, floral components and a mineral note of wet slate inspire. On the palate, the wine once again impresses with strong aromas of stone fruit and citrus with a present, lively and stimulating acidity and a slight tannin. A lot of bite on the palate with a mineral note and a delicately fruity, spicy, incredibly long finish. Riesling can taste so nice...
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with light Far Eastern dishes, tuna, sushi, sashimi, asparagus, white poultry & veal.
Vinification
The grapes for this Riesling grow at one of the steepest slopes of the Trittenheimer Apotheke. The vines are very old and naturally produce very low yields and very small, highly aromatic berries. Of course, the harvest is done by hand. After pressing whole grapes, it is fermented cool and for a long time with natural yeasts. It is then aged on fine yeast in typical Moselle oak barrels.
