About the wine
Founded in 1880, Chiodi Ascona is today — together with Carlevaro Bellinzona acquired in 2009 — one of the 10 largest companies in Ticino in the field of wine and brandy production. In addition to the company's own production with approx. 150 tons of Merlot grapes per year, there is the import and sale of Swiss, Italian and French products. Thanks to the tireless presence of previous managing director Fabio Arnaboldi in the 1980s, Chiodi maintains an extensive network of contacts in the Bordeaux region. The company with twenty employees and two wineries is firmly rooted in the family tradition
Tasting note
Its dense purple color crowns every festive time with style and charm. You won't find this shade in any color palette. With subdued, finely developed tannins, a strong body and distinctive acidity, this fruity red wine shows its flawless structure.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with roasted meats and pasta.
Vinification
Aged for 12 months in French oak in 225 and 50 liter barrels.
