Unico Merlot Rosato Terre di Chieti IGP 2023 - Tenuta Ulisse

About the wine

Luca Maroni: “Tenuta Ulisse - one of the clearest examples of the aromatic radiance that the grapes can develop in beautiful Abruzzo.” Although the Ulisse family has been viticulture here for generations, the official founding year of the modern winery dates back to 2006. Here, brothers Antonio and Luigi Ulisse chose a breathtaking landscape for their vineyards. Some locations offer views of the Adriatic Sea, while other vineyards have the Apennines behind them and the vines grow on slopes. A paradise for lovers of Italy!

Tasting note
The Merlot Rosato from Tenuta Ulisse is the rosé bestseller of the top winery in Abruzzo. It comes in the glass with a strong raspberry red and delights not only rosé lovers, but also every wine lover who likes powerful and expressive wines. First, fruity notes of ripe raspberries, cranberries, strawberries and cherries penetrate the nose. The fruit is complemented by floral notes, fine herbal spice and light citrus nuances of pink grapefruit, kumquat and bergamot. Floral notes of hibiscus and bush rose round off the bouquet brilliantly.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with an aperitif.
Vinification
This top Rosato was vinified from 100% Merlot grapes, which grew around Crecchio in the Abruzzo province of Chieti. Here, the vines are rooted in sandy soils and have already been able to dig their roots deep into the ground for 10-20 years. The sandy soil does not allow the vines too much water, which increases the depth and extent of the roots and allows the grapes to grow particularly intensively because they are not as watered down. After manual harvesting, the grapes are immediately placed in the cellar, macerated and cold macerated for 12 hours. After pressing the must, fermentation takes place, which is followed by a three-month maturation period in stainless steel tanks.
