Tasting note
Rich garnet red with purple reflections. On the nose, Valbuena impresses with notes of ripe blackberries, dark forest fruits and black elderberry. Aromas of blackberry jelly, plum, elderberry, walnut and gingerbread spice are palpable. Compact tannins, very long aftertaste.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with red meat, game and braised meat.
Vinification
Valbuena 5º is the purest expression of Vega Sicilia red wine. It matures between barrel and bottle for five years, hence the name: Valbuena 5º. A complex vintage, affected by frost and drought. A quick and early harvest, definitely a difficult vintage, which we interpreted by using less extraction during fermentation and adjustments during maturation. Valbuena 5º is a more mature, juicy and luscious wine with an expression that always focuses on harmony.
