About the wine
The company Avignonesi owes its name to the historic founding family. After decades of research and development, the house has established itself as one of the most important wine houses in Tuscany. The aim was to reveal the essence of the Montepulciano terroir. In 2009, the Belgian Virginie Saverys took over Avignonesi and introduced the methods of organic winegrowing. Avignonesi thus produces distinctive and even more stylish wines based on Sangiovese grapes on an impressive 107 hectares of vineyards.
Tasting note
The new owner of the Azienda Avignonesi, Virginie Saverys, has stuck to the successful concept of her predecessors, but with the introduction of organic Reboling added another dimension. Virginie is convinced of the need to think and act sustainably. As a result, the Vino Nobile from Avignonesi has also gained in format. For the house classic Since the 2010 harvest, only Sangiovese grapes from our own vineyards have been used. It takes 18 months to mature, half in second or third barriques Filling and in large oak barrels. Before the wine goes on sale, it ages in the bottle for at least 6 months.
