About the wine
With experience and intuition, the winemaker from the Italian winery Poliziano masters this red wine in the fertile and blooming landscape of Tuscany. If you want to surprise a wine connoisseur, then with this provocative Merlot 2012 — Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG! Flaschenpost team tip: Combine this merlot with poultry or duck.
Tasting note
There was a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano by Poliziano for the first time in 1968. Today, 150,000 to 180,000 bottles are produced. It consists of 85 percent Sangiovese, the rest is shared by Colorino, Canaiolo and Merlot. The maceration takes place in conical steel stands and lasts around three weeks. The wine is aged for around 15 months in new and used French barriques and tonneaux, a third matures in large wooden barrels. The dense color of the wine heralds a rich wine, which immediately confirms the variety of aromas on the nose. The palate shows race and elegance; intensity and length are impressive.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with lamb, beef, veal, venison, pork and grilled meats.
Vinification
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is aged for 15-18 months in barriques and large barrels made of French wood.
