The winemaker from the Portuguese winery Quinta da Zambujeiro has absolutely mastered his craft. Elegance and finesse are the characteristics of this red wine, which originates in the picturesque and sunny landscape of the Alentejo. Tasting note
Rich, impenetrable red. Deeply and multi-layered scented... violets, whale berry jam, ground rock, black tea, smoke. With every minute in the glass, new nuances emerge. Extremely concentrated and full-bodied with a powerful load of tannins, beautifully balanced by lots of creamy, juicy fruit extract and good acidity. Cool elegance with minty notes in the endlessly long finish. A meditation wine! Decant absolutely. Shelf life of 15 years. Store at a maximum temperature of 15°C.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with beef and game grilled meats, roasted venison on the bone and ripe hard cheeses.
Vinification
The best lots in the Quinta, some very old vines. Hand picking. The grapes are selected by hand after harvesting. Fermentation in oak fermentation tanks and small steel tanks, partly with spontaneous yeast. Long maceration (extraction on the mash) of up to 6 weeks. Aging for 26 months in mainly new French barriques. Without fining (no animal proteins) and without filtration.
